After reading “Party Girl” by Rachel Hollis, I was so excited to dive into her next book in the series “Sweet Girl”!

What’s a better way to enjoy a book about an aspiring baker…than by enjoying it with a delicious piece of Nutella Cheesecake, while I read!

In this story Max…one of Landon’s best friends and room mate from “Party Girl” becomes the main character. In “Party Girl”…Max is a moody, head strong individual that seems very angry with the world! Which becomes very confusing when you find out that she comes from an amazing, wealthy family. They worry about her health because she is hypoglycemic. They also love her unconditionally and are very supportive.

In “Sweet Girl” she starts off as the same moody, head strong individual. Max seems frustrated and smothered by her family because they are always on her about her health. Her only true happy place is when she is creating and baking new pastries! She has a passion and talent for baking but reality quickly draws her back to Earth knowing she could never work in a bakery because she is hypoglycemic! She meets up with Avis Phillips, a world famous pastry chef by chance and is given the opportunity of a life time! She chooses to keep her new job opportunity from her family and friends. When things get rough with her new job she is forced to confide in a man that she can barely stand to be around. Eventually they become best of friends and he helps her remember the sweet girl she used to be, by coming to terms with her past.

I actually really connected with this story just for the baking story line! I love to bake, and it is one of my favorite hobbies. One of my personal dreams in life has always been to have a bakery.

Once again, I have to give Rachel Hollis credit for incorporating a very sweet relationship storyline. The relationship begins with some negative tension due to all of Max’s emotional walls. The friendship that grows between Max and Taylor is extremely sweet and respectful! It is the kind of relationship every mother wants for her own daughter.

The strength Max demonstrates to get through the hard times in life is so inspirational. I truly enjoyed “Sweet Girl” and highly recommend this story as a fun weekend read!
