Momma’s Book Club – “Party Girl” By Rachel Hollis

“Party Girl” is a story about a young girl named Landon Brinkley who leaves her small home town in Texas for the busy life of L.A.! She is lucky to have landed an internship with the most sought after party planner, Selah Smith.

All Landon has ever wanted to do in life is to be an event planner. Through her internship she makes two great friendships, Max and Miko. They are both amazing and supportive to Landon.

She has to face some hard realizations about the event planning business.  She not only learns and grows as a person but she excels in the business!

Landon finds love where she least expects it.

Rachel Hollis did a fantastic job developing Landon’s character! I’m from Texas, and I could actually hear the Texan accent in Landon’s character! She is a young, naive spirit full of plans for her young life. You really feel her character change from the situations in her life and her business. You want to root for her till the very end. She was an easy character to connect with, and I don’t know if it was the Texan in me…or just the memory of what it was like to be young and naive!

My favorite part was her friendship with Max and Miko! Friendships are hard to come by especially when you are that young and in such a competitive field! I love to read stories about great friendships.

In Rachel’s book “Girl Wash Your Face”, she writes about how they wanted her to add more “sex” to her book “Party Girl” because she was competing with books like “Fifty Shades of Gray”. She stood her ground against not changing her book. She self published “Party Girl”, herself! I actually love her book, JUST AS IS! I love the sweet and innocent tones, because sometimes you need to read to escape real world drama. I totally recommend it!
